May 2011 Prize Draw Winner Announcement The lucky individual to win the £100 Idlewild nightwear voucher is Mr B Newman (London). The month in pyjamas - February There seems to be a growing trend for integrating pyjamas into daily life. For a long time pyjamas have been what you slept in, and perhaps what you spent time in when you were feeling under the weather. Over the summer we featured several articles about the growing increase in the desire to wear our pyjamas as loungewear, after work, for easy days at home, it seems the whole country has got into it in a big way. Now apparently the boundaries of social acceptance are on the move again! This month sees two similar news stories about new locations to wear your jammies! Firstly a cinema in Sidney, Australia is holding a pyjama party this week, an advance screening of a chick flick, and viewers can enjoy food and drink in luxury seating whilst wearing their favourite nightwear as daywear! We cant help wondering if this will include pink fluffy bunny slippers or trainers! Secondly, (albeit a tongue in cheek interpretation!) 128 art galleries in 30 countries joined forces to have the first ever VIP Art Fair. Now in this case VIP does not stand for very important person, oh no VIP in this case stands for Viewing in Private, as the whole event took place online Galleries were turned into virtual rooms with the magic of 360 degree viewing software, and users were encouraged to view the art dressed in their pyjamas giving the whole event a totally unique flavor! We wonder if any of the viewers chose to don their stilettos and do their hair and make up as one might do when attending an art gallery function in the real world. We actually think it would have been quite a fun thing to do, and perhaps if the event takes off and becomes a popular annual event guests will gather in groups at a friends house and make a night of it. Are we seeing the introduction of a whole new dress code? Forget Black Tie, forget Smart Casual, we will now being seeing invites bearing the dress code Loungewear - and perhaps stilettos optional! Either way, loving nightwear like we do we have to say we wholeheartedly approve of these new ideas and will certainly be looking for any events near us that we can support! Be our valentine! We love you all so much that we thought it was the perfect time of year to show you just how much we care! Awww..! Have a look at our guide to getting the right Valentine gift and then have a browse in the shop, the shortie nightshirt on the homepage is a really cracking choice for valentines day - a sexy little number that leaves her feeling comfortable and gorgeous without her getting paranoid about those little wobbly bits that she hates. Now the important bit, should you want to take advantage of this not to be missed offer, then you need to know the following pieces of vital information. Listen very carefully we shall say this only once (and if you do not remember the iconic comedy ‘Allo ‘Allo then that just went right over your heads. If you do remember, we bet you read it with the silly fake accent - cos we did too!) This offer must end on Friday 28th January at midnight. You must spend over £40 to qualify. Quick - what are you waiting for! Here's the range ... 'view all nightwear'. How to choose a great valentines nightwear gift Ah the most romantic day of the year is beginning to loom large on the horizon, and to make sure that you are getting the best gift for that special lady, now is the time to start thinking lads. Sorry about that, but remember the brownie points you earn by making a good choice of gift will pay dividends in the future, when you want to slope off and watch the footie at the pub with your mates instead of helping her rearrange the front room for example! We know how much lads hate shopping so we have put together this helpful two part guide to choosing the perfect pressie. This first part tells you what to consider when shopping for your lady, and part two which follows soon shares three of our favourite items to give you a head start. Now, unsurprisingly nightwear is a popular and suitable valentines gift, maybe not for the earliest stage of a relationship, but for any of you who have been dating your lovely lady for at least 6 months now, and definitely ideal for those in cohabiting scenarios. But there are rules lads! Now, firstly getting to grips with style. You need to consider the sorts of things you have seen her in before, the sort of thing she would choose for herself and feel comfortable wearing. Personally I am not particularly in love with my own figure, I know my hubby loves it which is what counts hey! To that end I would feel very self conscious in a very skimpy number, and would probably cry if I opened a size 10 and couldn’t squeeze my ample frame in my new gift. Now there is your second lesson! Make sure you get the right size, of course things can be exchanged but for our self esteem, our man getting the right size makes us feel much happier about the world. If in doubt check the label of some thing she already owns, and if your still not sure, give us a shout and we can see if we can help! Finally make sure you order it in plenty of time, and if needs be let us gift wrap it for you, all that you need to do then is book the table at her favourite restaurant.
How to sleep with the seasons Getting a good night full of sleep seems to be a problem for many people, we tend to lead such busy lives full of comings and goings, and plenty of stimulations in the form of televisions, computers and phones, this means when we get into bed at night sleep doesn’t come easily. There are several other factors that can influence an already tricky task, so by tackling as many as possible your chances of sleep increase. One important bedtime factor is of course temperature, being too hot in summer or too cold in winter can lead to more time awake and less chance of those needed zeds. One way to help with your thermostat control is to get your bed wear working in your favour. It sounds a strange thing to do and you may wonder how to do this, well rest assured (if you’ll pardon the pun!) it is very simple indeed. The basic idea is to use material to your advantage. Put simply you want to be wearing silk nightwear in summer and flannel nightwear in winter - but why? Silk is a clever material that is able to draw moisture away from the body, ‘wick’ is the technical term, and it is this process that allows heat to be drawn away from your body keeping you cooler even if you happen to fidget and move around a lot. Silk pyjamas or silk nightshirts really aid the quest for a cool night sleep in summer, and for extra measure you could treat yourself to some silk sheets to match, just be careful you don’t slip slide out of bed! Flannel is a heavier material that has the reverse effect making it perfect for winter pyjamas, nightdresses, or even dressing gowns. Many women favour pyjamas in winter as there is less chance of them riding up and exposing legs and arms thus leaving them chilly, and flannel pyjamas are a flattering perfect choice. Flannel also has the advantage of being very light to wear and incredibly soft to the touch. Flannel acts like a small layer of insulation covering your whole body, so even if the duvet slips or moves you are likely to stay warm. Just in case you were wondering, we do of course, have what is in our opinion the best selection of both silk and flannel nightwear available on the net, so what are you waiting for! Have a look and sort your climate control now! We Often Get Asked .... About ladies nightwear for nursing mothers. Yes, we are aware that our maternity section currently sits empty, however there is good reason for this. At Idlewild we take pride on making sure all the items we offer are simply the best of what is on the market and our buyers are currently scouring the shelves for best in designer maternity nightwear, however as yet we still haven’t found what were looking for (but do an excellent rendition of the classic song by music legends U2!) However that doesn’t mean that we don’t have an excellent selection of ladies nightwear that make the perfect choice for the nursing mother, allowing you to feed in comfort without having to spend ages getting undressed and comfortable. Classic pyjamas make a really good choice as the boyfriend style shirt buttons right up the front allowing you to simply undo a couple of buttons on the top. Check out the ladies Jeans Check Flannel pyjamas as an excellent example, the shirt is loose, allowing for that immediate post baby weight around the middle, and the top unbuttons to suit you for those night and early morning feeds. If the classic pyjama isn’t your style have a look at the loungewear styling with the stretch bottoms and vest tops, a great example being the Calvin Klein Ice Cap pyjamas. The cut and give in the material in the top means you can simply slip the strap down on one side making access for baby easy. There are several excellent choices in this style so you are sure to find something that catches the eye, this is also an excellent choice for early mornings as it means should the postman knock on the door early you actually look dressed anyway! Finally a candidate for your whole pregnancy/maternity as well as nursing baby afterwards, has to be the easy loungewear set from DKNY, the soft flowing cut of the top means there is plenty of room to accommodate a growing bump, the trousers have an elasticated waist but are soft enough to be worn under a bump without digging in and causing discomfort. After baby is born the top can easily be lifted for nursing. We will of course let you know when we track down the best maternity nightwear but as you can see there is plenty of choice elsewhere in store! The month in Pyjamas - January Sex god loves his jammies Ladies, fear not, never again need you worry about what you look like in your pyjamas, or whether it is sexy to wear your favourite jammies to bed. Johnny Depp has revealed that he loves nothing more than getting cosy in his beloved cotton pyjamas when he is struggling to get some shut eye. The 47 year old heart throb, who is still making us girlies swoon at his feet revealed that his bouts of insomnia were cured by happy accident when he was given some oversized PJ’s. Move over Vanessa, we will happily don our best pair and snuggle with you any day Johnny! Money raising idea? An Australian group who raise money for Cancer Care came up with a novel way of getting some funds recently when they held a ‘come in your pyjamas night’ for charity at a local pub. We think this is a really excellent idea and salute them for their ingenuity, what better way to enjoy an evening in the pub than in your best pyjamas and loungewear. Important cash is raised for that ever so important cause, and when the night is over you can pop home and get straight under your duvet to catch those all important zzzz’s! Why not host one at a pub near you? Be my valentine... A new survey has revealed that the art of romance might actually be dead! Apparently many of us struggle when it comes to packing for a weekend away, and although we would love to claim we all sling in the seductive and sexy undies, the reality is that we are much more tempted to pop in our favourite pyjamas, a good book and our can’t live without teabags! Oh dear! It seems that a precious weekend away from the chaos of day to day life leaves us wanting to charge our batteries rather than seducing our lover - thankfully we have an excellent range of sexy nightshirts and seductive pyjamas that are also just as comfortable for crashing out it - should you feel the need! Bag your bargains Just before we go, there is just time to remind you that January is one of the best months in the year for bagging a bargain...have a look at our offers and grab some gorgeous sleepwear! 9th January 2011 - Working from home in my pyjamas! Ah the guilty pleasure of the home office worker! On days when I do not have to go into the office there is nothing I love more than working from home in my pyjamas. It is almost a bit naughty, definitely a guilty pleasure and one that I am sure I am not alone in indulging myself with. If you haven’t yet tried it, why not give it ago! It is also an excellent excuse to invest in some new pyjamas, I mean why not, you would spend money on purchasing suits and smart bits for the office - why not treat yourself to some new pyjamas for the home office? It has to be said it is my favourite way to work in the winter, when outside is cold and wet, or snowed up to the window frames! I curl up on the sofa, laptop on knee and check my emails, respond to enquiries and write to you dear reader. I know it seems hard on those who are not so fortunate and have to trudge into the office come rain or shine, but I shall further enhance my own pleasure with my favourite radio station and a big mug of steaming tea. I have several pairs of pyjamas I deem suitable for working at home, I love my Lady Godiva Lounge pyjamas, the long sleeves mean combined with my central heating mean I am kept snug and warm. Purple is my best colour (as my five year old says!) but seriously with my colouring the purple looks really good on me, and should the postman have a parcel or the next door neighbour pop over I don’t look ready for bed, but just look casually dressed. On other days I may be found in my Smokey Lounge set which comes from Cyberjammies and is a dark grey colour with paler silk trims, again should unexpected visitors pop round I don’t have to dive to the bedroom for some ‘proper’ clothes as these look like casual clothes. One thing to remember, the only thing we would discourage, if you are going to work from home in your pyjamas is never wear any that are potentially see through as this avoids the need for red faces should you have to suddenly entertain. Tell us what you think … Calling all our loyal customers, we have a mission for you! We know how much everyone gets excited by missions, and this is a lovely simple task for you to complete – nothing Mission Impossible about this one, which is a shame as frankly we would quite like the idea of Tom Cruise and his bulging biceps turning up at our front door! Plus of course as soon as we have them on our shelves you can get shopping and bag yourself some of the best, gorgeous nightwear offering you will have seen in a long time. What a perfect way to look forward to the new year! I live in my pyjamas, it is crazy but it’s true. Gather round dear friends, I will tell you why I do! Ok thats all the poetry I can manage, but living in one’s pyjamas is becoming an increasingly popular trend, and one I have to say, I am getting quite into! The posh name for this growing trend is loungewear and many of the celebs are quite happy to be caught on camera in their best offerings. Why has loungewear taken this sudden rise in popularity? Well clearly the time of year is going to have an effect on the situation, the days are shorter, the nights are longer, and bed seems more appealing than the cold winter chill…brrrr. Secondly we are a nation of creature comforts, and we just like to be snug. Now I work in an environment where I can wear jeans to work, some times I need my suit, but largely I can choose, which makes coming home and getting my casual clothes on less significant. Another reason why I just love slipping my pyjamas on when I know I have finished going out for the evening. It defines my time. When I slip into my pyjamas I say goodbye to my stressful working day, and hello to my sofa loving chill out evening. This means I find myself unwinding quicker and relaxing faster, and hey that has to be a good thing right? It also means that if I happen to over indulge on the pasta, or pizza or whatever other scrummy meal I decide to have, I don’t get the tight waist band effect of jeans, win win situation really! Now my choice of pyjamas goes well with my personality and my pyjamas reflect this and are, well, fab! As I write I am sat on my sofa wearing my Noir Lounge Pyjamas, from the fab people at Loungerie. The black full length trousers and V neck sleeveless top perfectly suit my style, and the gold trims under the bust and around the waist really compliment the look and give me a really individual style – a definite winner. I should also say that the Storm version, the same but in a gorgeous purple are currently in my tumble drier and will probably be my choice tomorrow! Give living in pyjamas a try. It rocks!
Nightwear for a sound nights sleep It’s funny how the weather changes our sleep patterns, at this time of year I find I like my bed even more than usual and I have to say am prone to getting quite grumpy if I cannot get the hours I need! (Just ask my children!) One of the things that does make a real difference to the quality of sleep is the comfort levels within your bed. Fresh sheets, warmed by an electric blanket or hot water bottle, a snuggly blanket to pull up around the shoulders, and of course the all important nightwear. The thing with nightwear and achieving a great night of rest is of course comfort. Getting tangled in your nightdress or trapped in your pyjamas really isn’t good and being woken because you have got uncomfortable really isn’t going to improve your mood. So what is best? Having been around the world of nightwear for more time than we can remember, we think we know a thing or two and always try and keep our shelves stocked with the best we can possibly find. One of the choices we think is really great is the Pensiero nightdress, the ribbed cotton is luxuriously warm and the fit ensures maximum comfort. This nightdress has long sleeves, and skims the knee, the V neck ensures that no matter how much you move in your sleep there is nothing that can pull on the neck and cause discomfort. The pretty slate grey colour means this is a really excellent choice for all types of women, from girly girls to the tom-boys like me! Now even though it is cold outside, some of us still find sleeping in winter can cause overheating, which is another thing that wakes us up. If this happens to you then lighter pyjamas to snuggle under the duvet with maybe the answer. The gorgeous Racer Back Lounge pyjamas again in soft grey provide the perfect solution. The sleeveless design means you can tuck your arms in warm or wave them out of the covers to suit yourself, and the tie waisted bottoms are guaranteed to keep you in maximum comfort. The full length design combined with the top also makes this an excellent choice for loungewear for passing the long winter evenings in front of the tele.
Ah the countdown to Christmas is relentless isn’t it? The weather is certainly hampering the shopping efforts of many, and unsurprisingly lots of you are turning to the internet to find the goodies you need for your nearest and dearest. Today we bring you our guide to nightshirts in our continuing quest to bring you the best ideas for perfect nightwear pressies. Nightshirts are potentially an ideal pressie for your lovely lady lads, so listen up. The masculine styling shirt that skims the thighs turns something you’d wear to the office into your other half looking incredibly tempting just for you! The basis of the nightshirt is the button through look, which can be all done up or strategically left undone to add to the overall effect. Here are two of our best to show you exactly what we mean…as different as night and day, salt and pepper or well black and white to be honest!!! Shadow stripe nightshirt In a self striping black material this sexy mid thigh number really looks the part, the buttons are just at the top on this one, allowing for the perfect undone look. Three quarter length sleeves and a cute breast pocket make this Bodas offering the ideal nightwear gift. Charcoal is a good colour for ladies that are not the most girly, but still love to nail that sexy look. Now okay you blokes are less interested in that bit, but incase it helps make up your mind, it is made with 100% cotton which makes it warm in winter and cool in summer – perfect! White cotton nightshirt Now we promised you complete contrast, so here it is! Our next choice is poles apart from the first one, this time in a self striping white material, and again 100% pure cotton. Actually, we have to confess they are quite similar but, the white makes this an excellent choice for the more feminine girly types who love pretty and simple things. The quickest way to decide is simply to open her wardrobe door and see what colour jumps out as prominent. If its many colours then white is possibly the best choice, but if like mine you find a sea of black then please see above!! Good luck and happy shopping, we know you will find something in our vast nightwear collection to impress her.
The perfect Christmas Gift – Kerala Kimono Dressing Gown. For some people the pressure of Christmas shopping is now starting to mount, we have crossed over into December itself and now that all important day looms less than one month away. It seems every year that someone proves really hard to buy for, and it can surprisingly be someone close to you. You have nudged them for ideas and this has proved fruitless, you have asked other family members and it seems they too are still scratching their heads, it really seems to have everyone stumped. Nightwear is something you may not immediately consider for a closer female relative, and there are many reasons for this. As a child there always seemed to be hideous underwear from well meaning relatives, or rather lame character pyjamas from your well meaning parents when you were about 15 years old. You are therefore very wary of messing up and making a choice that leaves someone else cold, especially when it is someone close to you and you want them to love it. Dressing gowns make an excellent, unusual yet really stylish choice, and we cannot think of many ladies that would be disappointed to find something like the Kerala Kimono dressing gown under the tree on Christmas morning. This gown has the advantage of being full length making in perfect for the current climate. The patterning is simply divine, it is an abstract mix of contrasting stripes and eastern floral prints which combine seamlessly to create an opulent and appealing look. The delicate blue and white shades give this kimono style robe a Saville Row look which is no coincidence as that is exactly where you will find designer Derek Rose. The other thing about this particular dressing gown is the lack of age, on two counts. Firstly the age of the recipient, this is perfect for literally any age group, young and trendy recipients will love the abstract detail and gorgeous wide belt, whilst older ladies will feel equally luxurious as they slip this on in the mornings. Add that to the fact the gown itself does not age as it isn’t tied to current trends and colours you really could be onto a winner and your Christmas shopping stress could be at an end. Our top 3 favorite classic pyjamas Ahh pyjamas, there is nothing more fabulous than the thought of coming home to a lovely pair of warm snuggly pyjamas. It comes as no surprise that PJ’s are high on the list of must have items as soon as the mercury starts to plummet. Pyjamas are also popular choices for Christmas presents, mothers, mother in laws, teenage nieces, or your own sister would all love to receive a special gift this Christmas. Treating ourselves is something lots of women forget to do, and sometimes they need other people to do it for them. We share our top three favourites to inspire you to choose the perfect pressie. 1/ Bodas white cotton pyjamas They are classic, they are simple, yet they ooze sophistication and style. Made from 100% natural cotton the white material manages to have a subtle yet perfect white stripe. Bodas have designed these in the traditional classic boyfriend shirt style, with a more feminine open neckline that creates a definite girly look. The bottoms are full length and softly tailored to complete the overall package. These are a great choice for any age of woman, which is clearly another huge tick for the clever designers at Bodas, timeless classic pyjamas that will never age! 2/ Bonsoir pink spot pyjamas Our second offering comes in the form of cute and flirty pink spot. Well actually the spots are white, set on a gorgeous pink background. These are the pyjamas for all seasons, again they are made from cotton but the light and breezy feel makes these seem warm in winter and yet cool in the heat of summer. Again we have the full length sleeves and pants, with the button through top and elasticated draw string waist. These are perhaps more suited to the younger females in the fold, but we will leave you do decide. 3/ Esprit woven stripe pyjamas Finally, a bolder colouring in the form of dark pink and white stripes from nightwear gods Esprit. Being winter warmers these are of course long sleeved and long legged! We love these as they just look cosy and really are something we want to slip into at the end of a long day in the office. Perhaps for the executive goddess on your shopping list?
Coba Pyjamas back in stock! As I sit and write today I am watching the snow fall. I have a dual aspect room and can see snow at the front and snow at the back. It will soon be time to do the school run, I can collect the youngest by foot, the older two will be brought back from opposite ends of the county by school buses, and the only tricky bit is the shuttle run from one to home. So the way I see it, I have two hours before I can change into something more comfortable and bed in for the night with my tele..being rurally located this could be the start of a few days at home. I am lucky that I don’t have to go anywhere, and I am even luckier that I can get myself cosy and slip into something more comfortable. The perfect opportunity to road test my newest arrival, Coba pyjamas. Now some of you will know that these had been out of stock, and some of you (like me) will now have received them. For those of you that hadn’t so far see them, have a look now. These stunning pyjamas are brought to you from Le Monde D’Alba and the simple reason we ran out of stock was the sheer popularity. Opulence springs to mind the moment you see this gorgeous offering, made from sateen cotton, the grey base is given depth by the stunning hand painted turquoise leaf pattern. A white and turquoise band etches the hems giving these kimono style pyjamas a really sumptuous look. I really cannot wait for the time to pass so I can slip into these, teamed with my very fetching big socks and my gorgeous Calvin Klein robe when the evening chill sets in. These would also make a stunning present for someone really special and believe me the special lady in your life really will love them. A bright luxury item as the winter weather arrives with force!
Flannel Pyjamas Calvin Klein Nightwear Calvin Klein is synonymous with style and quality. We are proud of our range of nightwear from Calvin Klein and we are pleased to say we have a newer line of men’s bed wear as well as our extensive range of ladies nightwear. One of the reasons that Calvin Klein makes such a popular choice is the combination of modern styling with classic looks that simply do not age. For example for men the 365 Long Pant Pyjamas are just gorgeous and will look good for years to come, the washing quality of all CK goods is second to none, so this is one pair of pyjamas he is going to love wearing, sometimes for bed, and sometimes for loungewear as they are just so darn comfortable! (but don’t tell the lads at work eh!) Ladies have a real myriad of choice and again there are classic pieces that you will simply adore time after time, and real season must have pieces like the sumptuous fleece dressing gown that just has snuggle written all over it – I have to confess that this is one of my personal favourites and sometimes in the morning it is a real wrench to drag myself into my day clothes after having my morning coffee snuggled in my Calvin Klein dressing gown. Very tempting to shut the world out and stay there all day curled up on the sofa with daytime television! Have a browse for yourself, there really is something for everyone – Mr Klein we salute you.
Silk Nightwear Silk is one of those materials that is considered a luxury, it is synonymous with all that is opulent and decadent, it oozes style and sophistication and makes the wearer feel special and desirable. It is little wonder silk is given as a token of love, and makes an excellent choice for a special gift this Christmas, or at anytime!
We are rather pleased with our range of silk nightwear, we have hand picked the best short silk nighties, silk pyjamas and robes all of which are gorgeous even if we do say so ourselves! Thankfully we have many happy customers who agree that these items are fabulous so we thought we would share a couple with you too. Aimee silk chemise is one of the stunning range, this sexy shorty nightdress comes in white silk and is trimmed at the top and bottom with gorgeous black lace that contrasts to give a really feminine edge, the generous lace panel at the bottom creating a cute skirt effect. Unsurprisingly we find this is a popular choice as it really is perfect for that special gift and every woman we have spoken to agrees she would love to own this nightie. The Cachemire silk robe is another excellent choice, in fact the colouring is such that it would be perfect worn over the chemise, an abstract black and white print, with black edging and belt creates a striking look, which is made even more appealing by the completely contrasting vibrant fuchsia that lines the sleeves and body that peek through to create the complete look.

It is as if you are finally shutting the door to work and beginning your evening with a fresh approach. Loungewear is enjoying something of a surge in popularity, with stars like Katie Perry being snapped in the comfiest of gear back stage at gigs. Whether you are loungewear curious or a complete loungewear addict you will certainly find a massive range of choices, deliberately selected for style and ‘I want’ factor. Smoky is an offering from the gorgeous creations at Cyberjammies, and is sure to become a fast favourite. The best in loungewear offers sublime comfort, loose fitting, nothing to cut or dig into the skin, a real chance for the body to relax and chill out. Have you ever tried to unwind in jeans that are just that bit too tight? You end up popping the button, sliding the zipper, and then when you stand up to make a brew, disaster as they slide round your ankles - classy it most certainly isn’t, rolling on the floor funny for the other people in your lounge it certainly is. Take the safe route, Smoky is a gorgeous grey set, with three quarter length sleeves and a V neck top, and full length trousers all finished with a silver grey satin trim. No danger of falling off, every certainty of complete comfort and style seamlessly combined. Just don’t blame us if you drift off during that dull meeting dreaming about the luxury that awaits you at home!
**************************************************** 'Life's not fair but my knicker's are!' Ah the feeling that life is just not fair is a common one, and sadly quite true! In fact I think one or the other of my kids bemoans this fact at least every other day! In the big grown up world we know that life really isn’t fair but it seems so overwhelming what on earth can we do about it? One company decided to harness that feeling and turn it into something they could control, and something that was indeed very fair. 'Life’s not fair but my knicker’s are' bring you fair trade nightwear that is ethically sourced to ensure fair treatment of workers involved in production. Though we may have to start calling them Not fair! for short! It is all too easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and forget that the world has created some genuine monsters, the likes of the ‘sweatshops’ being just one that exploits those not in a position to defend themselves. For most of us all out campaigning is just not possible but making small changes to the way we live certainly is. Purchasing fair trade items, from food to gifts, beverages to clothes instantly means you can be part of the wheel of change. How much better when it can also be fun! Can you hear yourself saying it cos we can! You know, life’s not fair but my knicker’s are! or in this case my pyjamas and nightwear! Have a rumble in the ‘Not fair’ closet and see what you think. It really is a plethora of choice, a divine nightdress, sumptuous pyjamas, a short & camisole nightwear set thats simply sweet, and a loungewear set for sofa slumming. Polka dots are in, and the colours are divine, in fact the tops are so gorgeous you would be forgiven for wearing them out and about....suddenly seems a whole lot fairer eh?! Fairly Dotty Pyjamas ********************************************************************* Introducing our New Men's Nightwear range - just for him! Idlewild London has been showcasing some of the best female nightwear for many years now, and our loyal customer base tells us how much they love our offerings. However something was missing. We had not been considering the men of the world, and guys we apologise! You too deserve the best choices in bed wear and we are pleased to say we have the beginnings of an excellent selection just for you men. At present we have three choices for you but we are aiming to expand this. The three choices we do have represent the best in style, comfort, designer chic and of course value for money. 365 Mens Long Pant Pyjama In no particular order, the first offering is from underwear and nightwear gods Calvin Klein - adored by both men for style and comfort and women for the eye candy potential these guys never fail to impress. Long Pant pyjamas are black with grey waist band and sleeve trim, and can easily double as loungewear for cosy nights in. (£59.00) 365 Mens Short Pyjamas As the name suggests, so no prizes for guessing here! Another offering from Calvin Klein, this time in grey with contrast white bands. Shorts but a long sleeved top, again a great choice for bed or lounge but perhaps more suited to summer. (£55.00) Mens CK Logo Pyjamas A dash of colour this time, blue long sleeved shirt with Calvin Klein in pink across the front and long pants with a multi coloured stripe. These are excellent for you guys that like something a little different but again can be used in the lounge just as well as the bedroom and wont look amiss should one of the lads pop by (£60.00)
********************************************* What’s hot and what is not? This week we take a look at the top five sellers from our classic pyjamas range. 1 Musica pyjamas Classic stripe styling make it easy to see why these pyjamas are flying off the shelves. Cotton gives these a cool in summer warm in winter versatility and are great for snuggling in front of the tele in the evenings. Retailing at just £45, Italian nightwear manufacturers Pompea have certainly hit a winner here.
2 Woven stripe pyjamas The classic boyfriend shirt style pyjamas are big this season so it is no surprise to see another pair at number two. Not drenched in overt flowers or patterns, just a simple lace trim detail turns these Esprit pyjamas into ultra feminine nightwear that you will just love to slip into, and at just £30 a real bargain to boot ... and so cool!
3 Check flannel pyjamas At three we have a gorgeous pair of flannel pyjamas perfect for the changing in temperature keeping you cosy and warm whilst oozing style. Again by Esprit, the dark red check makes these a clear winner and will set you back just £30. A nightwear bargain!
4 White cotton pyjamas Divinely luxurious this sumptuous cotton set comes in white with a stripe, definitely not stealing the husband’s shirt with this one! May not be so suited to loungewear given the colour but perhaps left for a special bedtime treat. £60 is excellent value for this gorgeous nightwear offering from Bodas.
5 Rosa Pyjamas It does seem that stripes and checks have caught the imagination of our shoppers this season, Rosa are described as being silky soft and we have to agree. The bright red check and three quarter length sleeve makes these perfect pyjamas for the lounge or bedroom and at just £42 why not grab a pair?
Fire! Fire! Finally I have made it, I am sharing my life with the rich and famous, with the world of celebrity, my life mirrors theirs. Well actually just one event, and just one celebrity but hey, it is a start and I am quite proud of it! Earlier this week whilst traveling on some Idlewild London business, I needed to spend the night in a hotel. Nothing out of the ordinary there you might think, and you would be right. However, at about 3am, as I was snuggled comfortably beneath the duvet I was suddenly and dramatically awoken by the ear piercing shriek of the hotel fire alarm system. I sprang out of bed completely disoriented, pausing for a moment willing the alarm to stop. Sadly it didn’t, so I dutifully grabbed my dressing gown and headed into the corridor to join the flock of other bleary eyed guests as we filed sheep style down emergency corridors and stairwells into the black and gloomy night outside. Thankfully the alarm proved to be a false call, confirmed by a crew of gorgeous firemen, and we were allowed to return to our rooms for the last few hours of night. That morning over breakfast I was tickled to read that the same fate had befallen Harry Potter actress Emma Watson at her University Halls, she too having been forced to trek into the grounds in her pyjamas to await the verdict - and again this was a false alarm. How relieved was I to have been wearing my favourite silk pyjamas and travelling with my most comfortable dressing gown, especially when I looked around the assembled mass that was my fellow guests. Some had obviously flung on the nearest clothes they could find, men with suit trousers and just a jacket over their bare chests, women with strange combinations of jeans and nightshirts. Clearly I was one of the few that was not remotely bothered about being seen in the gloomy half light wearing nothing more than my nightwear. It did get me thinking about what we wear - or don’t wear in bed! There were no pictures accompanying the Emma Watson article so we weren’t privy to what she chooses for bed, but one can be fairly confident that she has a gorgeous collection of nightwear. Thankfully going out into the night in just your pyjamas is not a fate that will befall you every night, but it does raise an interesting point. Would you be happy to step outside your front door in your bed attire, do you always have something close at hand should an emergency situation occur. If not I strongly recommend that you have a good look at what Idlewild London can offer you. Not only is it suitable for any emergency that might arise but we are proud to stock some of the top names in designer nightwear so you can be assured that you will get the best in comfort and fashion to boot, plus at these prices your wallet (or your husbands wallet!) will love you. Beware of the stress factor Life is hectic. It doesn’t really matter whether you are the managing director of a large city company, run your own business, have a tribe of kids or none at all, daily life can be a constant merry-go-round. Even if you really enjoy it the stress can creep in, and if left to fester can leave you burnt out and not wanting to go out and play with the world. This time of year is one of the worst for stress to creep in, we have all enjoyed the gentle and constant warmth of summer, loved the scorching days and been on our summer break. Now the nights are turning chilly, the mercury is falling and day light hours decreasing - it is time to act. One of the simplest solutions believe it or not is to create some ‘me’ time. At what ever point in the evening you can, simply chill. Get out of the clothes you have worn all day, the clothes that carried you through the daily grind. Get into something more comfortable, we are thinking loungewear come nightwear type clothing here. It one way of saying to the brain it is time to relax and psychologically more important than you may realise. Stress rolls like a snowball, it gets bigger and bigger and potentially knocks you over with it’s awesome weight. If you take the time to daily smash the snowball it can never get that big, so things that seem on the face of it trivial are actually vital. Taking long luxurious bath early in the evening and finding the time to relax in the warmth with a book or the television afterwards makes such a huge difference. Finding the clothing that best helps you relax is also a task well worth completing. Some of us love nothing more than a cosy pair of pyjamas, some of us prefer the modern twist of loungewear - street meets the bedroom, and some of us prefer a robe or dressing gown - but which are you? You may find until you have taken the time to experiment you won’t know for sure. That is where we can really help. You can browse from the comfort of your own home and see what jumps off the page at you on www.idlewildlondon.com. It may sound rather trite, but clear your mind and just see what actually appeals to you. Scrolling through the sections on the site you will see every possible combination of nightwear and loungewear. Pyjamas with button up tops or pyjamas with vest tops - the choices are endless. We quizzed the staff here in the office and everyone of our lovely ladies liked something different so we know you will too. One of the best curling up on the sofa choices though was the dressing gown. What we wear under it was hugely different but most of our girlies had to confess the icing on the cake, must have item to chill in was the humble dressing gown - thigh length, knee length, floor length or even just to the waist, we love them, and thankfully we have a massive selection just for you at Idlewild London! Take your pyjamas shopping... It is a debate that is sure to rumble on for many months, and one that periodically makes the news. It also isn’t one that is ever going to reach a conclusion however as there are clear supporters on both sides. The debate in question is of course the right to wear pyjamas in public - if that appeals to you. The fight first came to light in the summer when a woman in Wales was refused service in her local supermarket because she was still in her nightwear, and naturally others came forward reporting they too had received the same treatment. When these stories made the news, the public quickly formed into three clear camps. Those who think pyjamas and nightwear are indeed items for the house only, those who aren’t overly bothered one way or the other and those of course who think that the lady was treated unfairly and her human rights violated. Now the debate has moved into Ireland with the latest case making the press involving the residents of a housing association and their right to go outside in their nightwear, this time the story actually focuses on the courts, who were cross at being asked to get involved. The Attorney General was recorded as ruling that this was not an area for the law to be roped into and he threw it out of the courts. So clearly there isn’t going to be any quick resolution for that group of people either. The debate brings into question some of the clothes ladies, and gents wear when the weather gets warmer, with pro-pyjama groups pointing out (and perhaps rightly so) that summer cropped trousers and vest tops are more revealing and transparent than some pyjamas so where do we draw the line. Is it right for a grown up to be in a supermarket in fluffy bunny slippers and pyjamas with cartoon style creatures depicted in their own nightwear emblazoned on the front? Does this signify a drop in general living standards for the nation as a whole? To be honest we actually think we prefer to live and let live, but we do have an opinion on what pyjamas you do wear whether in or outside of your home! The key, in our humble opinion is finding the balance between comfort and style (and to be honest cutesy cartoon creations don’t really have a place in the adult nightwear world). Have a look at our range of nightwear, paying particular attention to the pyjama section. Luxurious materials have been expertly combined with colour and style by leading designers of nightwear and the results are just stunning. In fact we would forgive you if you felt the need to showcase these in public because they really are that good. So perhaps it is time to consider a pyjama spring clean and replace some older pairs with something a little more designer, especially if you are going to use them as loungewear (within the comfort of Link to Facebook To get the latest Idlewild London nightwear nightwear news why not link directly to our facebook page ..... Your partner or spouse is going to be happy the second she unwraps her truly sincere gift from you. Magnificent nightwear that is certainly amazing and easy to wear is bound to make her thrilled. The very thought of lounging at home in high quality nightwear or loungewear would most likely help to make just about anyone be happy. Relax in style - It’s very Perry! Snapped this week post show, Katie Perry shows the world how to relax in comfort and is not ashamed to be photographed in her funky nightwear. Mind you when you consider that she spent the entire gig in a breathtaking skintight PVC number it isn’t surprising she wanted to slip into something a little more comfortable! Sporting a bright and bold all in one set featuring cartoon heroes the South Park crew, Katie has become our new heroine. We have long sung the praises of pyjamas as loungewear, and what better evidence than a national sweetheart to confirm it for us! Long days in the office in heels and suits, busy days as the yummy mummy, from coffee with friends to school runs, whatever your day entails by the time the evening comes it really is time to kick back and chill. Office wear or jeans might be perfect for upping the glamour in the day time, but with the curtains drawn, and a glass of wine in your hand they are hardly the best for surfing the net or catching up on the television. This is where we just can’t get enough of loungewear and pyjamas, a simple wonder woman style change and daytime chic blends seamlessly to evening sophistication. We are not talking about fluffy bunny slippers and cute print pyjamas here ladies, we are talking about designer in vogue two piece sets that you could safely be caught in should the odd unexpected visitor arrive late one evening. Loungerie have a simply gorgeous set in purple, trimmed with opulent bronze satin at the waist, detailing to clinch that waist and give the illusion of the perfect hourglass figure and to keep the balance wide shoulder straps too. Perfect for lounging, the cut just oozes style and conceals the pure comfort that allows you to unwind and enjoy your evening. Similarly Calvin Klein offers their Ice Cap pyjamas, in two tone cream and pale silver. The camisole designed top trimmed with the paler lace wouldn’t look at all out of place outside of the home, making this the perfect choice for a lazy Sunday afternoon or cosy evening in front of the television. Now we have you sorted, what about the man in your life, loungewear style pyjamas are not just for ladies you know! We wonder if Katie has sorted out some matching or contrasting sets for hubby to be Russell Brand, scarily enough we can see him being flamboyant in a set just like hers, but if bright and tight doesn’t strike a chord with your man panic not! Thankfully there are some fabulously masculine sets on offer, and again a refreshing contrast in comfort levels from the office suits, jeans or overalls. It comes as no surprise that we have a selection of the best men’s pyjamas as well, so whilst you are nabbing some designer delights for you, why not bag a set or two for him, a lovely gift after a long day at work. Guy Richie Caught in Pyjamas with Model Guy Ritchie has accidentally gone public with his new romance - the director was photographed in his pyjamas bidding farewell to British model Jacqui Ainsley in the street outside his London home. The director, who split from his ex-wife Madonna in 2008 after almost eight years of marriage, confirmed his romance with the 26-year-old beauty after he was seen kissing her goodbye in front of onlookers outside his house while still dressed in his stripey sleepwear. A source tells Britain's Mail On Sunday, "He seemed very happy and very pleased with himself as he said goodbye to the lady. It was well after noon when the two of them appeared, and they seemed to be having a lot of fun together. They both started laughing when they realized they had been caught on camera and that Guy was still in his pyjamas. They seemed very much a couple." Ainsley, who appeared in the opening credits of Bond movie Die Another Day and previously dated Scottish singer Darius Campbell, was first linked to Ritchie in April. Helen Bonnel and Tom Edwards will next month start the long ride from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi to raise money for Cambodian orphans to whom they gave English lessons. 0968251 TWO travellers with a local connection plan to raise money for Cambodian orphans by cycling the length of Vietnam in their pyjamas. Former Guernsey Press reporter Tom Edwards and Helen Bonnel from the Vale devised the plan after teaching English for two weeks at an orphanage near Siem Reap, Cambodia. The couple are riding 1,700km in heavy traffic, torrential wet season rains and sweltering heat through the unfamiliar country and do not speak the language. ‘We were inspired by the orphans, who are so full of life despite the immense suffering they’ve endured in their few short years,’ said Miss Bonnel, 27. ‘However, the orphanage is so poor some of the children don’t even have shoes. We decided we had to help and the bike ride seemed fun and original.’ Kerala Dressing Gowns Limited stock of the Kerala Dressing gown has been sourced due to high demand. Please note the kimono style nightwear dressing gown is only available in size small. Further stock of this item will not be available. The act of sleeping is considered very vital to rejuvenate body, mind and soul, by giving it rest. In effect, a good and sound sleep is crucial for healthy living. Therefore, while resting, everything around should be congenial to induce deep sleep. This includes the nightwear which we wear for sleep. Nightwear should provide utmost comfort and should be chosen very carefully. Therefore, the things worth considering when choosing your pyjamas, nightdress, etc, is fit, fabric, and how comfortable the item will be fo sleeping in. However, of course we are stylish beings and even when we're sleeping, we still want to look good! Therefore, at Idlewild London we choose our nightwear with style, comfort, quality, and your restful sleep always in mind. It's warming up and time to ditch the flannel Nightwear!
